Simple and Effective Evangelism Ideas

Evangelistic Outreaches

Low Preparation,Low Cost, Highly Effective

Tract Ministry - Every Christian can do a tract ministry. There are plenty of free tracts out there, all you have to do is distribute them. Leave them in restaurants, phone booths, waiting rooms, etc... The ideas are endless.

* Church Transportation- Is there anyone around you unchurched and does not drive. Pick them up!!! You are going anyway. Alot of kids would love to go to church, but their parents won't take them. All you have to do is ask permission. Most parents will be glad to get a free babysitter for a few hours.

* Newspaper Buyout- Do you have a newstand or a gas station near your church. If so, this works great. Go buy all the papers or atlest 20-25 of them. Attach some contact information for your church and have the attendant give them away for you.

* Already Paid- This will really catch people off gaurd. The next time you go through a toll booth, pay for yourself and the next person that comes through. Leave a tract for the attendant and one for the attendant to give the driver.Use a tract about Jesus paying the price we owed. This also works at coffee shops, fast food restaurants, and Donut Shops.

* Prayer Ministry- This is one of the best ,low cost ministries you could have. Everybody needs prayer. Even lost folks want someone to pray for them. When God works, let them know that God came through for them(again.)

* Small Group Bible Study- Has God gifted you with the ability to effectively teach His Word. Then get out and use that gift. Invite lost neighbors, four or five of them, to come over for snacks and Bible Study. They will much more open to this than going to church.

* House to House Give Aways- I always like to give people something!!! Go around your neighborhood giving things out with a Gospel Message. Candy for Valentine's, Bottle Water during grass cutting season, etc...

* Letters- Write letters to soldiers, politicians, family. Anyone that needs Jesus will be deeply affected if you take the time to sit down and hand write them a letter. In today's time, you don't see this often.

Some Preparation,Some Cost,Great Results

* Kendal's Rest Pillows - Now this one has a unique name and a unique story. I spent a number of nights sleeping in one of the most uncomfortable places in the world, a hospital ICU waitng room floor. While I was there I became friends with a man named Kendal. Both his and my father was on their deathbeds, so naturally we connected. The funny thing was, Kendal would pull out an air mattress to sleep on at night. Well, one night the hospital saw him and woke him up. They made him remove his matress!!! My father passed away and Kendal's father would pass away soon after. I started making small pillows to give out at the local ICU waiting rooms. So many folks are looking for rest, the kind of rest only Jesus can give.

 * Take a Teenager Out- Twelve to Fourteen year olds are a prime target to reach. They are really starting to explore new things, good and bad. We need to get them involved in wholesome stuff and set a Godly example for them. Take them fishing, to a college football game(Go Clemson), or to a Big League Baseball game.

*Beer Joint or Bar Room Bibles- Catchy name, don't you think. I have custom made matchbooks with Romans 6:23 and contact info on them. These go to bars. Whenever anyone picks them up they read " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23   Contact Us For A Free Gift!!! You can order your own custom matchbooks at www.matchbooks.com

* Dorm Daze- Buy a load of Pizzas and give out slices to kids at the local college on the first day of registration. Make sure they know you are sharing the Love of Jesus Christ with them.

*Buy A Lunch- Buy a homeless person lunch and sit down and eat with them. Don't just leave them there to eat by theirself. Show the love of Jesus, then tell of His love for them.

More  Preparation, More Cost, Great Results

* Flea Market Ministry- This is the main thing God has called me to do!!! It's sounds crazy, but it works. I go out to local flea markets and set up a table full of stuff. Bibles, tracts, Crafts, Books, Bumperstickers, salvation bracelets, necklacesanything I can get my hands on.When people come by, I shock their socks off. I say, "Everything on the table is free, just want to share the love of Jesus Christ with you." You ought to see the looks I get. This opens the door where I can come in and witness. I have been doing this for years. THE LORD HAS PROVIDED EVERYTHING. Please contact me if you would like to start a flea market    ministry @ (864)958-0381.

* Homeless Street Ministry- I am also involved with a Street Ministry. We go out and feed a meal on the streets(going out to them is much more effective). With this meal we have Preachin' and singing. We have seen God work in amazing ways through this type of ministry.

* Job Staffing- Do you have alot of contacts? Alot of people need work. You could be the middle man in getting these people jobs.

* Spanish Outreach- Alot of Hispanics are coming to America!!! Some people hate it, I think it is great. the foreign mission field is actually coming to us and they are eager to hear God's work. If you can speak english and spanish, please get involved in some kind of outreach to these folks.

* Sports Clinics- Teenagers love competitive sports. You can host a sports clinic for whatever is popular in your neck of the woods. teach them the skills and rules of the game, have a tournament they can compete in, and give out prizes. Between games have messages that relate the sport to Biblical truth. A semi- famous Christian  sports star always adds to this outreach.

*Guitar Lessons- If you can play the guitar, this is great. Hang around the music store on any given Saturday. When a youth walks in to pick out his first guitar, make the connection. Show him a few things on the guitar in the store(impress him a little bit,I don't think God would mind.) Then offer to give him free lessons. Look for a kid who probally doesn't know Jesus. If you don't feel comfortable being along with them at your house, have him meet you at your church an hour before night services begin.

* Race Track Ministry- I have been involved with a racetrack ministry before. I would take something and give to the drivers such as a Race Themed New Testament. I would offer prayer with them individually. I also led a group prayer at the drivers meeting. For the kids we had a Bible Story time before the race.

* Rodeo Ministry- This one was pretty exciting. I would go behind the chutes about two hours before the rodeo began. I would give out Rodeo Themed New Testaments and then have a message. During the rodeo, you can have prayer individually with the guys and gals. Alot of them would ask me to help them get their equipment ready. This could be done at any sporting event.

*Teen Hangout- Do you or your church have an old basement not being used. Turn it into a teen hangout. Play Christian movies and music. Serve drinks and snacks. Throw in a couple of games(pool tables, table tennis, air hockey,etc...)

* Free Haircuts- Can you cuthair. Get involved with a fair ministry or a homeless ministry and give out free haircuts. A lot people go to their barber for advice, you can advise them to turn to Jesus.

These are just a few ideas for reaching the world for Jesus Christ. I want to encourage you to do what God leads you to do, no matter how big or how small. People of the Way Ministries is proof that God will provide and bless if you will just do what He asks. I have seen Him work out so many things. He laid it on my heart to start a Flea Market Ministry with $50.00, that I really didn't have. A few years later we have reached people all the way in Asia. It is all to the glory of God!!!It is amazing to see God work in so many ways. It is awesome to see Him do something huge. But the little things that He does on a regular basis is what really touches me. Pray about what God wants to do with your life and remember: He has called you, equipped you, and commanded you to reach others for Him!!! If we can do anything to help you get started, please let us know immediately.

10 Easy Ways Anyone Can Witness

1) Keep a gas can and jumper cables in the trunk of your car. When someone is pulled over on the side of the road, you might can help. I do this often. Once I’ve done everything I can do, I offer them a Bible and a few tracts. It doesn’t hurt to buy a gallon of gas for someone and share Christ with them. They have always responded positively when I have done this.
2) Put a Christian Bumper Sticker on your car. I have one, two, and even more on all the cars I drive. There is an unlimited number of people who will see the stickers each day. Just don’t cut anyone off in a brief moment of road rage.(It kinda kills the effectiveness of the witness!!!)
3) Buy someone a cup of coffee and a newspaper at the gas station. Tell them you just wanted to share the love of Jesus Christ with them. Give them some kind of tract or a contact card with personal information or either church information on it(just in case they want to know more).
4) Leave Bibles in different spots for people to take. You can put them in newspaper racks, real estate booklet racks ,etc…One good place is on counters at bookstores with a small sign that says free( it works better if you purchase the Bibles at the bookstore, they usually have some for about five bucks).
5) Wear a button about Christ or a Christian T-Shirt. Wear something eye catching so people will comment on it and open the door for you. Just remember there is more to being a Christian than just wearing a T-Shirt. Show people you are a Christian with kindness, good habits, good language, etc…It doesn’t take much to ruin your testimony!!!
6) Leave tracts with a generous tip when you go out to eat. After a tough day at work some good news might be just what that person needed.
7) Buy children in your neighborhood Jesus coloring books. They will remember it for years to come, plus they will take it into there homes where others will see it.
8) Visit patients on a particular floor of the hospital. My Mother and her women’s group do this monthly. They take each patient on the cancer floor a gift they have bought or made. They receive such a blessing from the patients and the patients are very thankful because someone just thought about them.
9) Place tracts in public areas such as phone booths, dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc. The possibilities of reaching someone are endless. God can work through anybody and anything, even a tract.
10) Simply live a life that pleases God. We live in the world but we shouldn’t be as the world. Let people see a difference in your life !!!

A Message For You

Faith Barriers

Faith Barriers are what keeps us from doing God’s work and His will for our lives. He wants us busy laboring for Him and His kingdom. But many times we feel as if we could never complete His tasks. There is always a reason why we can’t do what God has told us we can. An example of this is our Flea Market Ministry. I have had a number of people tell me that they wanted to do a flea market outreach, but the owners wouldn’t let them hand out ice water. Some said they weren’t allowed to pray with people. One man said he asked if he could hand out tracts to the buyers, and he was told no. All of these were at the same flea market I was giving out Bibles, tracts, and ice water.  I had been doing this at the same flea market for more than a year when someone asked how I got permission. With a grin I told them, the Lord told me to do it, I didn’t bother to ask anyone else.  Faith Barriers are easy to find and go back many years.

Let’s look at a fairly familiar section of scripture about the life of Moses. It begins in Exodus 3. Now God has appointed Moses over a tremendous task. Let me begin with a little background information.

-Moses had grown to be a man and the Bible tells us that he had seen his Hebrew brethren mistreated for years. Well Moses tries to take matters into his own hands and he kills an Egyptian.  Pharaoh finds out and he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from Egypt to the Land of Midian. Now Moses is a shepherd in Midian when he sees something out of the ordinary. This brings us to the familiar scripture where God speaks to Moses through the burning bush. And God speaks:

“Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.”  Exodus 3: 9

“Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:10

In verse eleven, Moses responds just like most of us do. After God called him, Moses came up with the first faith barrier.

“And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11

Who am I?  Moses said who am I? I am a murderer who fled that land 40 years ago and has tended to sheep for years out here Lord, Why would you call me? Why in the world would you call this old nobody? Didn’t you get me confused with someone else? You know many times God calls us and we say “Why would He call me, who am I?” I’m just a new Christian. I barely know the scriptures. Or God why would you send me to a foreign land where you know I can’t communicate. Who am I, Lord? Who am I?

So often we feel unworthy but God says:

“And he said certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.”    Exodus 3:12

“ Certainly I will be with thee;” God told Moses, He said I will be there Moses;  -I’ll provide a  way. You’re going to succeed. You’re going to bring my people back. I’ll go ahead and tell you, you will succeed because I’m with you. But that ol’ human nature popped up in Moses.

“ And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them?”  Exodus 3:13

Well God you know I would love to do this thing, but you know the children of Israel will think I’m crazy. They’re going to say, “What was God’s name?” What should I tell them your name is, God? Moses raised a second objection. He still wasn’t willing to go before Pharaoh. It seems like if we hurdle one Faith Barrier, there is always another in sight. It’s been the same way for ages. God once again encourages Moses as he always does us!!!

“ And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.”    Exodus 4:1

They won’t believe me. They’re not going to listen. They’ll say the Lord hasn’t spoke to you Moses. Let’s stop and think of the time God told you to tell your neighbor of His love or maybe stop by and tell a brother who has backslidden that there still a place for him at your church. Have you ever said, “they would think I’m crazy if I stopped after all these years.” How many times have we let a barrier, a faith barrier stand in our way? It’s a whole lot easier just to say they’d never listen to me.

Now it gets real good. God has told Moses I’ll give you signs and I’ll give you wonders. Amazing miracles that no man can deny. Just follow me. But sadly Moses said unto the Lord:

“And Moses said unto the Lord,  O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.”   Exodus 4:10

This would be a wonderful excuse for me!!!I have a good ol’ southern accent . I speak kind of slow and mumble a lot of my words together. But seriously, Moses pulled out a physical disability. He is bound and determined not to do this thing. God said I made you Moses. God knows everything about us.!!!He knows if I am standing on the street talking to you, you probably couldn’t understand half I say. But when I stand before a youth Sunday school class or in front the homeless, I begin speaking loud and clear and quite mumbling.

God goes on to call Moses’ brother Aaron to help Moses out. The Bible said God’s anger was kindled against Moses. See when God wants something done it’s going to get done, whether you like it or not. God doesn’t mind giving your blessing to a willing brother or sister.

He calls each and every one of us to do His work. I read a quote one time that made a lot of sense.

“Wherever there is a pocket of sin, there’s a mission field and the nearest Christian to it is a missionary.” -Bob Harrington

Don’t let faith barriers stand in your way. Don’t question your worth. Don’t let a physical disability stop you.

Just like Moses, God has done told us we will be victorious. If we would just obey Him and not let Faith Barriers stop us we could accomplish so much for His Kingdom!!!
